The Institute of Economics will hold a Webinar as part of its Seminar Series on Tuesday, April 21, 2020: Matteo Sostero, will present the paper: Sector closures and telework in the European Union: Preliminary estimates.

Abstract:

Multiple governments of the European Union have implemented lockdown measures and restricted economic activity to slow the contagion of Covid-19. By comparing national measures, and based on the structure of the European labour force, the authors provide preliminary estimates the share of the workforce affected by the shutdown in economic activity across the European Union.  Also, the authors tentatively estimate the share of occupations that can be performed from home, based on surveys of occupations and working conditions. All estimates are preliminary and have not undergone internal review at the Joint Research Centre.

The webinar will be held via Microsoft Teams. All interested participants should contact the organizers.
